சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம், இளையான்குடி அருகே உள்ளது அரணையூர் கிராமம். அந்தக் கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவ தம்பதியினர் செந்தமிழன்-அன்னம்மாள் தம்பதியினர். அவர்களின் மகன்தான் சீமான். அரணையூர் அரசுப் பள்ளியிலும், புதூர் கிராமத்தில் உள்ள அரசுப் பள்ளியிலும் பள்ளிப் படிப்பை முடித்த சீமான், அந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் இளையான்குடி ஜாகீர் உசேன் கல்லூரியில் பி.ஏ., பொருளாதாரம் படித்து முடித்தார். பள்ளி, கல்லூரியில் படித்த காலத்தில் உடற்பயிற்சியிலும், விளையாட்டிலும் ஆர்வமாக இருந்த சீமான், சிறந்த கபடி வீரராகவும் இருந்தார். அத்துடன் அந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் ஊரில் நடைபெறும் தெருக்கூத்து, நாடகங்கள் போன்றவற்றையும் ஆர்வத்துடன் பார்க்கச் சென்றுவிடுவார்.
கல்லூரியில் படித்த நாட்களில், ஆண்டு விழாக்கள், கல்லூரிகளுக்கு இடையிலான போட்டிகளில் பாட்டுப் பாடுவது, நாடகம் போடுவது என்று இருந்த சீமானின் கலை ஆர்வத்தை முதலில் கண்டு கொண்டவர்கள், அவருடைய கல்லூரி ஆசிரியர்களும், நண்பர்களும்தான். அவர்கள்தான் சினிமா ஆசையை சீமானுக்குள் விதைத்தது. அப்போது சீமானுக்கு கல்லூரியில் ஆசிரியராக இருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவர் ஆய்வாளர் தொ.பரமசிவன்.
திரைப்பட ஆசையில் சென்னை வந்த சீமான்!
கலையின் மீது இருந்த ஆர்வத்தில், சினிமா ஆசையில் சென்னைக்கு வந்தார் சீமான். 1991 காலகட்டத்தில் சென்னைக்கு வந்த சீமானுக்கு சினிமா ஆசை காரணமாக சென்னை வருகிறவர்கள் சந்திக்கிற அத்தனை பிரச்சினைகளையும் சந்தித்தார். யாரைச் சென்று பார்ப்பது? யாரிடம் வாய்ப்புக் கேட்பது? எங்கு தங்குவது என்று தெரியாமல் இருந்த சீமானுக்கு அந்த நேரத்தில் நல்ல அறிமுகமாகவும் அறைத் தோழராகவும் கிடைத்தவர் இயக்குநர்…. அவர் மூலம் ஓரளவுக்கு சினிமாவில் அறிமுகம் கிடைக்க ஆரம்பித்தது. பல கட்டப் போராட்டத்திற்குப் பிறகு, இயக்குனர் மணிவண்ணனிடம் உதவி இயக்குநராகச் சேர்ந்தார். அவருடன் இருந்து ராசா மகன், தோழர் பாண்டியன் திரைப்படங்களில் இணை இயக்குநராகப் பணியாற்றினார்.
உதவி இயக்குநர்…. இயக்குநர்… நடிகர் சீமான்!
1994-ஆம் ஆண்டு மணிவண்ணன் இயக்கி, நடிகர் சத்யராஜ் நடித்து மிகப்பெரிய முத்திரை பதித்த, ”அமைதிப்படை” என்ற படத்திலும் பணியாற்றிய சீமான், அந்த திரைப்படத்தில், கருஞ்சட்டை அரசியல்வாதியாக சிறுவேடத்தில் சீமான் நடித்தார். அதன்பிறகு, அதே திரைப்படத்தின் இரண்டாம் பாகத்தை 2013-ஆம் ஆண்டு இயக்குநர் மணிவண்ணன் இயக்கியபோதும், அந்த திரைப்படத்திலும் முக்கியமான வேடத்தில் சீமான் நடித்தார். ஆனால், முதல் பாகத்தில் அசிஸ்டெண்ட் டைரக்டராக இருந்து நடித்தவர், இரண்டாம் பாகத்தில் நடிக்கும்போது, தமிழகத்தில் அடையாளம் பெற்ற ஒரு கட்சியின் தலைவராகவும் உயர்ந்திருந்தார் சீமான்….
