இங்கிலாந்தின் கெண்ட் கவுண்டி அணி வீரர் டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்ஸ், கிளமோர்கன் அணிக்கெதிரான போட்டியில் 149 பந்துகளில் 190 ரன்கள் எடுத்தார். 45 வயதான டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்சன் கடந்த 35 ஆண்டுகளில் இங்கிலாந்து கவுண்டி கிரிக்கெட்டில் சதமடித்த மூத்த வீரர் என்ற சாதனையைப் படைத்தார்.
இங்கிலாந்து உள்ளூர் தொடரான கவுண்டி கிரிக்கெட்டில் கிளமோர்கன் – கெண்ட் அணிகள் மோதிய போட்டி கேண்ட்பெர்ரி மைதானத்தில் நடந்தது. இதில், முதலில் பேட் செய்த கெண்ட் அணி, 8 விக்கெட் இழப்புக்கு 128 ரன்கள் என தத்தளித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அப்போது, 9-வது விக்கெட்டுக்கு மிகுல் கம்மின்ஸோடு இணைந்து ஸ்டீவன்ஸ் 166 ரன்கள் சேர்த்தார். இதில், கம்மின்ஸின் பங்களிப்பு ஒரு ரன் மட்டுமே. ஃபர்ஸ்ட் கிளாஸ் கிரிக்கெட்டைப் பொறுத்தவரை சக வீரர் ஒரு ரன் மட்டுமே எடுத்த நிலையில், இதுவே அதிகபட்ச பாட்னர்ஷிப்பாகும். இதற்கு முன்னர், 1911-ல் நடந்த போட்டியில் டெட் ஆல்ட்ஸன் 152 ரன் பாட்னர்ஷிப்பில் 142 ரன்கள் எடுத்திருந்தார்.
166 ரன்கள் பாட்னர்ஷிப்பில் 5 ரன்கள் எக்ஸ்ட்ராவாகக் கிடைக்க மீதமுள்ள 160 ரன்களை (96.39%) டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்ஸ் குவித்தார். 15 பவுண்டரிகள், 15 சிக்ஸர்கள் என கிளமோர்கன் பந்துவீச்சை நாலாபுறம் பறக்கவிட்ட ஸ்டீவன்ஸ், பவுண்டரிகள், சிக்ஸர்கள் மூலமே 150 ரன்களுக்கு மேல் எடுத்தார். டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்ஸ் அசத்தல் ஆட்டத்தால் கெண்ட் அணி 307 ரன்களுக்கு ஆட்டமிழந்தது. அவர் 149 பந்துகளில் 190 ரன்கள் எடுத்து ஆட்டமிழந்தார். 1995-ம் ஆண்டுக்குப் பிறகு இங்கிலாந்து கவுண்டி கிரிக்கெட்டின் மூத்த வீரராக இருந்துவரும் ஆல்ரவுண்டரான ஸ்டீவன்ஸ் 2 மாதங்களுக்கு முன்புதான் தனது 45-வது பிறந்தநாளைக் கொண்டாடினார்.
கொரோனா சூழலால் மைதானத்துக்கு ரசிகர்கள் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு ஒரு வாரமே ஆகியிருந்த நிலையில், டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்ஸுக்கு இங்கிலாந்து ஃபேன்ஸ் ஸ்டேண்டிங் ஓவியேஷன் கொடுத்தனர். `45 வயதில் அடித்த இந்த சதத்தை மிக முக்கியமானதாகப் பார்க்கிறேன். எப்போதும் என்னுடனே அமர்ந்து ஊக்கப்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்த எனது தந்தைக்கு இதை சமர்ப்பிக்கிறேன். கொரோனா தொடர்பான உடல்நலக் குறைவால் கடந்த ஆண்டு அவர் உயிரிழந்தார். அந்த சம்பவம் என்னை வெகுவாகப் பாதித்தது’ என சாதனை சதத்துக்குப் பிறகு நெகிழ்ந்திருக்கிறார் டேரென் ஸ்டீவன்ஸ்.
