கோவை மாநகராட்சி பகுதிகளான சிறுவாணி, பில்லூர் 1, பில்லூர் 2, ஆழியார் கூட்டுக்குடிநீர் திட்டம், வடவள்ளி கூட்டுக்குடிநீர் திட்டங்கள் மூலம் ஒரு நாளைக்கு 220 எம்.எல்.டி தண்ணீர் விநியோகிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்நிலையில், 4 வருஷத்துக்கு முன்னால கோவை மக்களுக்கு 24 மணி நேரமும் குடிநீர் விநியோகிக்கும் விதமா, பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த ‘சூயஸ்’ங்குற நிறுவனத்தோட ஒப்பந்தம் போடப்பட்டது. அடுத்த 30 வருஷங்களுக்கு தண்ணீர் கொடுக்குற வகையில 3,100 கோடி ரூபாய் மதிப்புல ஒப்பந்தம் போடப்பட்டது. அப்போதைய கோவை மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர்,  “கோவையில் உள்ள குடிநீர்க் குழாய்கள் சேதமடைந்துள்ளதால், அவற்றை மாற்றியமைக்கவும் பராமரிக்கவும்தான் சூயஸ் நிறுவனத்துடன் ஒப்பந்தம் போடப்பட்டுள்ளது. குடிநீர் கட்டணத்தை மாநகராட்சி நிர்வாகம்தான் நியமிக்கும்” என்கிறார்,
